Avoid the Dreaded DMS at all costs...!
How to stop drinking during your delivery
Have you every noticed presenters walking up onto stage with a HUGE bottle of water? They will begin delivering their content and will take copious breaks to drink water. Do you find that a bit of a distraction? Here's a way to avoid DMS....Sorry! It's a TLA...Three Letter Abbreviation. Now that's out of the way, DMS stand for Dry Mouth Syndrome....and before you search for to see if it's a thing, I errr, made it up.
The simplest and most straight forward way to deal with DMS when presenting is to start drinking about 2 hours before starting your presentation. And when I say drinking, I mean water! As you've by now fathomed, it's all to do with hydration and is dependant on how dehydrated you are in the first place.
The major organs will get the hydration first, as is right and proper. The lesser organs like the larynx will be one of the last. So if you know you're going to present at 11am, start sipping water at 9am. Oh and recall I said sip water. The more water you have onboard, you may need to get rid of last minute nerves by heading to the restroom in the middle of your delivery! Not a great thing to do mid-presentation, I'm sure you'll agree!!
Try this approach and let me know how you get on.
